Ibn Sina—known in the West as Avicenna, the Muslim Persian physician and philosopher of the 11th century, authored “The Canon of Medicine,” a foundational text that shaped medical practice across civilizations. His legacy reminds us that healing and knowledge transcend borders. Today, HOPPE carries that torch—advancing cancer care with evidence, compassion, and hope.
About Us
Global Network of
Cancer-Care Physicians
HOPPE (pronounced “hope”) — Hematology & Oncology Physicians Promoting Excellence — is a U.S-based, physician-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves as a professional home for cancer-care physicians across the world. Formed to connect colleagues with shared heritage and a shared commitment to excellence, HOPPE brings together physicians involved in hematology and oncology to collaborate, learn, support one another, and strengthen systems of care — across both adult and pediatric patient populations.
To bring together hematology and oncology physicians with a common goal to advance education, mentorship, research collaboration, philanthropy, and professional networking — ultimately improving outcomes for both adult and pediatric patients through shared learning, collaboration, and a commitment to equitable cancer care. As we expand, our organizational base remains in the United States, with meaningful engagement and membership extending globally.
To build a dynamic, collaborative community of cancer-care professionals who elevate clinical excellence, advance research, develop future leaders, strengthen philanthropy, and support one another — with strong roots in the United States and meaningful partnerships across the world — all in service of improving outcomes for adults and children affected by cancer, and ensuring that advances in cancer care reach patients regardless of geography or circumstance.
HOPPE began with something simple: physicians coming together in service of patients.
Long before HOPPE became a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, a small group of hematology and oncology physicians would connect informally to discuss challenging cases, share emerging insights, and support one another through the complexities of cancer care.
Many of those early participants are now among the most respected voices in malignant hematology. Their quiet commitment to collaboration planted the foundation for what HOPPE would eventually become.
President’s Message
Leadership Rooted in Excellence, Collaboration, and Service
Dear colleagues and friends,
Welcome to HOPPE.
HOPPE was founded on a simple but powerful belief: that physicians are strongest when we learn from one another, support one another, and work together to improve the lives of the patients we serve.
What began as informal case discussions among hematology and oncology colleagues has grown into a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to mentorship, collaboration, education, and research—advancing excellence in cancer care both nationally and globally.
Today, HOPPE serves as a platform where academic leaders, community oncologists, and trainees come together with shared purpose: to elevate standards of care, expand access, and strengthen outcomes for patients everywhere...
